My, how good it is to be back! It has taken weeks to solve the problem of finding a reliable way to notify you, dear readers, when I publish a new blog post. Over the years since I started this blog in 2009, I’ve had more than 18,000 readers subscribe to my blog. I had the list “cleaned” recently to take out all those email addresses that bounce, so now the list is just under 14,000 long. I’m very much hoping this new solution reaches all those who want to be notified when I publish a post.
There is now a subscriber form on my contact page and here on the blog sidebar. Feel free to sign up to receive blog notifications if you haven’t already.
I am now the owner of a new publishing company called Memory Pages Press. My tagline is Keeping Memories Alive. I never really saw myself as a publisher before, but it’s rather exciting now that I’ve decided to go for it. I even had a logo designed.
There are lots of details to publishing. I have purchased ISBN numbers for my print book and my ebook. I also plan to narrate an audio book. Later this year, or early next year, I plan to publish the story now known as Bonnet Strings. You may remember that this book is out of print. You can buy the ebook on Amazon, and I still have a number of print copies available for purchase. You can go to my Books page to to learn more.
Progress is being made with the publishing of my new book. I have decided to change my title to Liberating Lomie: Memoir of an Amish Childhood. I’m hoping this gives a better idea of what the book is about. The book is being copyedited. A cover is being designed. I am designing the layout of the book’s contents. I’ve written the front matter: Copyright, Title, and Dedication pages, plus I’ve written the back matter: Afterword, Appendix, and Acknowledgments pages. I become more excited as each new piece falls into place.
I have been on a huge learning curve these past months, and I’m not done yet. I’m getting quotes for the printing of the book, and I’ve yet to learn how things go to upload to Amazon, and to Ingram Spark. Amazon will distribute the print and ebook directly to readers who order from them, while Ingram Spark will distribute to libraries and bookstores.
I’ve so looked forward to being in communication with you all. I hope you’ll leave me comments and I will respond.
I hope to be back soon with the book cover.
Well, I am happy and very excited for you! This new undertaking sounds intriguing and, of course, we will be looking forward to your new book. I was glad to find my ‘missing’ copy of “Why I left the Amish” right where it belonged… obviously returned to me after being loaned! My brain…
So good to hear from you!
Peggy, thank you for your comments. I’m glad you found the book you thought was missing.
Good to hear from you, too!
How exciting! Congratulations on taking the step — or leap!
I wish you all the best in this new endeavor.
Just goes to show: we’re certainly never too old to learn new things. (Which is something I struggle with sometimes. )
Stacy
Hello Saloma, glad to hear from you.
Ingram Spark is pretty cool. Since they publish around the world, ordering a book overseas allows the shipping to be reasonable. I have a friend who lives in England. Rather than spend $20 on shipping from Kansas to England, my shipping cost was around $4 because it was printed in London.
Have a great day,
Jim
Hello Jim. It’s great to hear from you. That is really good information for me to have about Ingram Spark. Thank you very much!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Wow!!!! You never cease to amaze me!!! When i grow up I want to be just as brave as you!!! You never seem afraid or hesitant to try something new. I know you will do well with all of this and Im so excited for you. Well done my friend!
Pamela, thank you for the compliments. You have your own brand of courage. So good to see you’re back!
