This means that my publisher has them and I will be getting my shipment in one week. You can order your autographed copies directly from my website now (https://salomafurlong.com/Memoir.html), and I will send them to you just as soon as I get them. Unfortunately, the timing is such that the mailings have little chance of arriving at your door before Christmas.

I am offering a free, autographed copy of my book. To enter the drawing, please create a link to my blog or webpage and then leave a comment on this post, naming your favorite Christmas or holiday tradition.

I will announce the winner of the drawing on Monday, December 21.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I love Christmas! We have the tradition of the boys putting up the christmas tree while I watch, with Christmas music playing as they work. (It’s the only housework they’ll do without being asked!)

Ooo, I would love to try for one. Thanks for offering!

My favorite tradition is making cookies with my kids. Even though they are adults now it is something we look forward to.

Favorite tradition?? We’ll I’m not sure we really have one yet, been married 3 yrs & have 2 children now… Probably just spend the day together in fellowship, singing Christmas carols & playing games & eating christmas goodies.

I’m not sure which tradition to choose. I love baking cookies that I don’t make other times of the year, and also love listening to Christmas music.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    i Saloma,

I’m happy to have discovered your blog–I came here from Amish America. I would love to enter the contest for your book! I put a link to your blog on my Facebook page.

My favorite Christmas tradition is putting up my Mother’s Christmas Village collection on the fireplace mantel, lit up with a string of lights. I remember her looking at her village with eyes shining, like a child. This will be the third Christmas without her–she died in Jan. 2008–and I surely miss her! But when I look at her Christmas village she is here with me, enjoying the happy sight.

    Blessings to you!

Congratulations on the publication of your book! That is wonderful.

My favourite family tradition is the treasure hunt “Santa” creates for the boys with their presents from “him”.

In the past couple of years it has gotten fancy with rhymning clues that send the eldest around the house hunting for the next clue/present.

I would love to win this! Our favorite tradition was sprinkling oats (oatmeal) on the lawn for Santa’s reindeer. Unfortunately, my son (21) and daughter (18) think they are too old for this now. We need a new tradition!

What? Even my copy wasn’t signed. That’s okay, you can sign it when we meet up in person. 🙂

My favorite Christmas tradition is attending 11:00 p.m. candlelight church services with my family. During this special service, we are typically told the story of the birth of our Savior and beautiful Christmas hymns are sung.

I am looking forward to reading this! To bad its not on the kindle or the Nook, since I am getting one of those for Christmas.

I grew up in a ski town resort here in Colordo and even though I don’t get to do it now it is the one I remember the most: Every Christmas Eve as soon as it was dark, the ski area would have Mr & Mrs Claus ski down the lower ski run followed by elves carrying torches then everyone would get hot chocolate by the huge Christmas tree and listen to Christmas music and the kids would get to meet Santa. I have not lived in the mountains for 25 years and I miss going to the ski area on Christmas Eve!

I hope your book does well. I would love to read it.

favorite tradition – reading the “night before Christmas” from the same book that has been passed on for years. I also make the kids PJs every year and buy them an orniment that will be theirs to keep.

Congratulations on your book! I put a link to your blog on my sidebar. Please enter me in your giveaway! My favorite Christmas tradition that we have started with our kids is going to the tree farm and picking and cutting down our Christmas tree.

    Merry Christmas!

  21. Dena on December 18, 2010 at 2:23 pm

    Good luck with your book!

We also have a fun tradition with Christmas, well actually have several but I’ll just discuss one!
We do a “formal” tree in the living room that suits my need for everything “just so” but then in other rooms the kids decorate to their desires! The boys get a tree in their room and the girls have one in theirs. We used to have one in the dining room but don’t live in the same house now and don’t have as much space. The family enjoys all the variety in our trees!

our Christmas tradition is to read the Christmas story and just getting together with family & friends. I would love to read your book.

  23. Michelle Latesky on December 18, 2010 at 2:25 pm

    Wow your books sounds wonderful!!
I hope it does really well!

My favorite tradition is with my Children…on CHRISTmas morning my kids have to wait for everyone in the family to be up b/4 opening presents,, B/4 that one of us reads (usually my oldest daughter) the CHRISTmas story from Luke chapter 2.

    Merry CHRISTmas

  24. Karen Gervais on December 18, 2010 at 6:02 pm

Oh, I would love to win your book. It sounds so interesting. If I don’t win, hopefully, I can make it to one of your appearances. The thing I love most about Christmas is the food, all kinds of goodies made by family members both for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Also, sharing Christmas with family and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Merry CHRISTmas.

Our favorite tradition is to have our best friends over about a week before Christmas to decorate gingerbread houses. I’ll have a house assembled for each child. We have lots of candy, crackers, and pretzels for all to decorate with. Everybody gets to take thier creation home with them.

    Hello All,

I was writing and sending a personal response to each and every one of you… I was almost done, and then I discovered that I cannot actually send you an email directly… I hadn’t noticed that when I hit the “reply” button, it reads out the name of the person and then “No-reply” blah, blah, blah. Nowhere along the way was I getting a prompt that let me know these emails were not actually making it to the person I was sending it to…. how silly is that, when it’s all within the google/blogger system… you’d think they would create a prompt.

Anyhow, now I’ve just spent all that time for nothing. So I will write to everyone all at once instead… so sorry!

First of all, thank you for your comments… I love some of the traditions. Some were new to me, such as the magical one in the mountains of Colorado and spreading the oatmeal for the reindeer. I’ll be sharing my favorite tradition in my post today.

Thank you also for your compliments. Candace, it is my pleasure to share of my past and my life when I have dedicated readers who read back posts… thank you so much for your interest.

Some of you indicated that you would like to have your name entered into the drawing and let me know where I will find the link you created — thank you very much. For those who did not specify, will you send me an email, letting me know for sure, and include the link you created? My email address is salomafurlong(at)gmail(dot)com. And sorry, I cannot enter “Anonymous” without a name, because there are several of you.

Tomorrow I will enter the names into a bowl and have David pick the name. I will announce the winner in late afternoon/evening.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

    Saloma

I’m sure there was a very heavy EXHALE when this book was finished ~ that’s quite an accomplishment! Can’t wait to read it. CONGRATS and I’d love to be entered in the drawing. I’ve posted a link up on my blog sidebar. 🙂

My fave tradition is going back home to Ohio, and staying with my parents. Sleeping in my old room, I feel like a little girl again on Christmas Eve!
