I love Christmas! We have the tradition of the boys putting up the christmas tree while I watch, with Christmas music playing as they work. (It’s the only housework they’ll do without being asked!)

Favorite tradition?? We’ll I’m not sure we really have one yet, been married 3 yrs & have 2 children now… Probably just spend the day together in fellowship, singing Christmas carols & playing games & eating christmas goodies.

My favorite Christmas tradition is putting up my Mother’s Christmas Village collection on the fireplace mantel, lit up with a string of lights. I remember her looking at her village with eyes shining, like a child. This will be the third Christmas without her–she died in Jan. 2008–and I surely miss her! But when I look at her Christmas village she is here with me, enjoying the happy sight.

My favourite family tradition is the treasure hunt “Santa” creates for the boys with their presents from “him”.
In the past couple of years it has gotten fancy with rhymning clues that send the eldest around the house hunting for the next clue/present.

I would love to win this! Our favorite tradition was sprinkling oats (oatmeal) on the lawn for Santa’s reindeer. Unfortunately, my son (21) and daughter (18) think they are too old for this now. We need a new tradition!

My favorite Christmas tradition is attending 11:00 p.m. candlelight church services with my family. During this special service, we are typically told the story of the birth of our Savior and beautiful Christmas hymns are sung.

I grew up in a ski town resort here in Colordo and even though I don’t get to do it now it is the one I remember the most: Every Christmas Eve as soon as it was dark, the ski area would have Mr & Mrs Claus ski down the lower ski run followed by elves carrying torches then everyone would get hot chocolate by the huge Christmas tree and listen to Christmas music and the kids would get to meet Santa. I have not lived in the mountains for 25 years and I miss going to the ski area on Christmas Eve!

favorite tradition – reading the “night before Christmas” from the same book that has been passed on for years. I also make the kids PJs every year and buy them an orniment that will be theirs to keep.

We also have a fun tradition with Christmas, well actually have several but I’ll just discuss one!
We do a “formal” tree in the living room that suits my need for everything “just so” but then in other rooms the kids decorate to their desires! The boys get a tree in their room and the girls have one in theirs. We used to have one in the dining room but don’t live in the same house now and don’t have as much space. The family enjoys all the variety in our trees!

My favorite tradition is with my Children…on CHRISTmas morning my kids have to wait for everyone in the family to be up b/4 opening presents,, B/4 that one of us reads (usually my oldest daughter) the CHRISTmas story from Luke chapter 2.

Our favorite tradition is to have our best friends over about a week before Christmas to decorate gingerbread houses. I’ll have a house assembled for each child. We have lots of candy, crackers, and pretzels for all to decorate with. Everybody gets to take thier creation home with them.

I was writing and sending a personal response to each and every one of you… I was almost done, and then I discovered that I cannot actually send you an email directly… I hadn’t noticed that when I hit the “reply” button, it reads out the name of the person and then “No-reply” blah, blah, blah. Nowhere along the way was I getting a prompt that let me know these emails were not actually making it to the person I was sending it to…. how silly is that, when it’s all within the google/blogger system… you’d think they would create a prompt.
Anyhow, now I’ve just spent all that time for nothing. So I will write to everyone all at once instead… so sorry!
First of all, thank you for your comments… I love some of the traditions. Some were new to me, such as the magical one in the mountains of Colorado and spreading the oatmeal for the reindeer. I’ll be sharing my favorite tradition in my post today.
