Liebster Blog

Life is full right now… David and I are heading to Cape Cod tomorrow. I am delivering five books talks on the Cape, plus one on Martha’s Vineyard to make six in five days. More than a little to do…

I appreciate all your good wishes about mending from my bike accident. I am happy to report that I am on the mend. No, I didn’t go see a doctor. If I get a stiff neck from this down the road, I will probably go to my chiropractor for an adjustment.  So far, so good. Lots of scabs on my leg and elbow, but that means I’m healing.

I’ve been planning to do a book review all week, but have not gotten to it. I’m sure I won’t get to it this week, so I will probably do it a week from today.

However, I would like to thank the Botanist from the “Views from the Bald Patch” for tagging me with the Liebster Blog.

The idea of the Liebster Blog is to thank the person who tagged me and link to that blog, then pass it along to five other bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers. I am tagging the following people:

Katie Troyer from Pinecraft-Sarasota Katie, I LOVE your photos. I hope you enter them into photo contests, for you could easily be a winner! You may want to check out Project 365, which I just heard about today. Tell Laurie Higgins I sent you… she tells me it’s a wonderfully creative community.

Rhonda Shrock from “The Natives are Getting Restless.” Rhonda, I love your optimistic up-beat parenting style with four boys… I only raised two, and I struggled with being the only female in a house with so much male energy.

Lynn Kimmerle from “Monarch Book Reviews.” Lynn, you have an infectious love and enthusiasm for reading, which you pass on to your readers. Thanks!

Rosslyn Elliott from Ink Horn Blue. Rosslyn, I always appreciate your insight, whether it’s your blog or comments on mine or others’ blogs.

Carolien from Carolien’s Stitches and Patches. I love your creativity, Carolien!

I announced a winner — Kathryn — for a copy of Ira Wagler’s book several weeks ago, and I’ve not heard from you, Kathryn. I tried to contact you some other way, but I was unable. If you want the book, please send me your address: salomafurlong[at]gmail[dot]com. I will then forward that on to Ira.

Have a wonderful week, everyone. Enjoy the late summer-early autumn days. These are some of my favorites.

  1. Hello Saloma,

Thank you very much for your generosity and sweet words while passing this ‘liebster Blog’ sign on to me. I appreciate this very much! It was a pleasant surprise …

I think I never said it aloud on your blog, but I think your contribution and insight in Amish life is very interesting. Maybe you’ve seen my Amish crossstitch samplers on my blog, I simply love those designs and little scenes. That’s the ‘romantic’ part for me of Amish life, just as I like some novels written about Amish families/adventures as well. Besides that I have tried to get a realistic view on Amish life and lifestyle.

From your blog I can ‘taste’ the good things about Amish life but also your ‘not shunning’ of the dark/difficult sides and the choice for another way of life. Maybe it sounds strange to you, but I can follow you completely! Ergo: I enjoy your blog very much!
A big thank you for sharing your stories with us!

Have a nice day & with Dutch greetings,
    Carolien

  2. Thank you for thinking of me, Saloma!

I’m excited to hear that you are giving six book talks on your trip. I think your book is an important contribution to cultural study and very well-written.I hope as many others discover it as possible.

  3. Wow! What a nice surprise! I so appreciate your kindness, Saloma. How exciting for you, speaking on Martha’s Vineyard. I wish you every success, my friend.

Remind me when it’s time for you to come to Middlebury, okay? I’d love to come hear you speak and meet you in person finally! :)

    Waving and smiling,

    Rhonda Schrock
